Monster-Taming & City Builder - Unreal Engine 5 - 3 Weeks - Team of 11
Description
Wanderlust was our end Project for our Third Year at GameSup in Lyon.
I've worked with 5 other Game Designers and 5 Game Artists.
Our goal was to create a mix of the Monster Taming and the City builder genres, with a Top-down camera.

Level Moodboard
Flow
One of our core intention was to create a constrast between the Character and the Environment.

We chose to make the Level in a Mangrove for the creepy feeling those places can procure but also for thoses mysteries and wonders from fairy tales.

As we progress deeper in the Mangrove, we wanted to make the player feel more and more disturbed by the environment.

Layout

With the Mangrove idea, we wanted to make an area where the player can explore freely.
Quickly a problem forced us to change: The camera. With a fixed position, we could not show what we really wanted.

We then chose a more linear level, with a blocker that force the player to find another solution to proceed.
